Terms & Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing the Scottish Fly Fishing Guides Association (SFFGA) website or engaging with any of our registry services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. These terms govern the professional relationship between the Association, its registered guides, and the public. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must refrain from using this site or our certification services.

2. Membership & Certification

Official registration is granted only to guides who meet the SFFGA's strict criteria, including proof of current public liability insurance, valid first aid certification, and verified technical proficiency in fly fishing. The Association reserves the right to audit, suspend, or revoke membership if a guide is found to be in breach of safety standards or ethical conduct guidelines.

3. Professional Conduct

Every member of the Association must act with the highest degree of professionalism. This includes respecting local angling traditions, obeying all Scottish watercraft laws, and upholding the 'Catch and Release' ethics where applicable to protect native salmon and trout populations. Verbal or physical misconduct toward clients or other river users is strictly prohibited.

4. Safety & Insurance

The safety of the client is the ultimate priority. Guides must perform a dynamic risk assessment for all environmental conditions, including river flow rates and weather warnings. While the SFFGA verifies that its members hold insurance at the time of registration, the Association is not liable for any insurance lapses or incidents occurring during a private guiding engagement.

5. Liability Limitation

The Scottish Fly Fishing Guides Association acts as a certifying body and registry. It is not a guiding agency and does not directly employ the guides listed on this site. Consequently, the Association shall not be held responsible for any loss, damage, injury, or death arising from services provided by independent member guides. Clients book at their own risk following our verification.

6. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland. Any disputes resulting from these terms or the use of SFFGA services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish legal system and courts. We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time without prior notice.
